Foreign student, Jonathan Marin, a French student of International Business and Languages in Den Bosch organised a bike tour for his fellow students. With this tour, he will show that foreign students can organise an event in a strange country. The tour takes place on the 30th of May and the destination is Texel.

Shortage housing foreign students
In too many cities there is a shortage for living spaces for the foreigen students. Although the school board is hammering on the concern of internationalization, some students are sleeping on the backseat of a car.
International students in Rotterdam live forced in touringcampers, youth hostels, or in appartments near airport Zestienhoven which costs about 600 euro per month, reports Erasmus Magazin this week.
Other cities struggle with same issues. In Groningen there isn’t anything done for the German students. ‘A girl mailed that she is sleeping in a car for three weeks now and she’s had enough’, tells Bob de Greef of the Groninger Studentsbond. About seventy foreign students from Wageningen are housed in Hoenderloo, thirty kilometers further, with six students per three bedrooms.
It is hard to arrange cheap rooms for international students, suggests Remco de Maaijer, director of Kences, the co-operation of studenthousing. ‘The rooms have to be furnished, students have to be able to move in within a day and you will never know how much you will need. No doubt that trailers are an emergency plea.’
According to him they have to act fast. ‘If we go on like this, foreign students won’t come to the Netherlands and in ten years we don’t belong to the countries with the fastest growing knowledge based economy. In China they will laugh about this.’
